Loaf

If a man walk in the woods for love of them half of each day, he is in danger of being regarded as a loafer; but if he spends his whole day as a speculator, shearing off those woods and making earth bald before her time, he is esteemed an industrious and enterprising citizen.
-Henry David Thoreau

Kit,
Thanks for reading and commenting. I do find insight and inspiration in Asian art and philosophy. Strategy like that of Sun Tzu, Morihei Ueshiba, and Miyamoto Musashi are very useful to all manner of business and management pursuits. I also think the concept of Tao and Te are finding renewed relevance in understanding environmental and health issues, as well as socially in responsible business. I’d like to try some Taoist notions as starting points for describing (and hopefully quantifying) non-monetary value streams in management…
I had a moment to look around your site and saw some good work. I had always liked best your urban landscapes on your blog, but I think your portraits on DA are particularly good.
As for painting, I am not an artist by any stretch of the imagination. I did, however, become an addict of the National Gallery of Art’s permanent collection, when I worked there as a student. I’ve also recently discovered that I can get to Freer/Sackler for a few minutes at lunchtime, hence some of the Asian art on The Influence Machine.
